“We’re the three best friends that anyone’s ever had!”
During the Spring of 2017, Steve and Katy started having an idea: go on an epic, multi-month RV trip with Jacoby. There were a lot of reasons for this trip:
- Becky and Mike were living full-time in Roseville, California, and this would be a chance to visit them.
- Matthew had been accepted to a 1-year Master’s of International Forestry program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
- Dell had acquired EMC and the morale in Hopkinton had dropped to an all-time low. It was NOT FUN to go into the office.
- Katy hates winter and wanted a #skipwinter experience!
Steve was part of an international team and his boss did not mind where Steve worked. So we decided to buy a second trailer (to go along with our trailer at site Zealand 4 at the Bluffs in Freedom, NH). We asked Rob and Erica Canavan to watch our house, and we were off!
As a joke, we told Jacoby that we were leaving him in Shrewsbury. This was his reaction.
After telling him that we were just kidding, the three of us packed into our Chevy Silverado and left Shrewsbury in late October 2017. We spent the first night in Erie, Pennsylvania, our second night in Onalaska, Minnesota, and then 48 hours later, we were in South Dakota! #SKIPWINTER1 had begun.
