Not A Retriever

Jacoby’s great uncle Boomer was a prodigious ball-fetcher. He would play for hours, bringing the ball back to us and barking until we threw it for him to fetch again.

We assumed Jacoby would also love to play fetch.

Nope! He was too weird for that.

Instead, he wanted to show us that he could fit two toys in his mouth.

If he did fetch the ball, he had no interest in giving it back. When he was very young, we tried to get him ready for baseball season but he would just growl and keep the ball in his mouth.

When it came to playing fetch, Jacoby would say: “just give me a good stick to chew on!”
